In March 2023, I set off on a trip to the Eastern Cape, a region of South Africa that I had never explored before. At that time, Timeless Trends had yet to come into existence. The idea of building a travel media platform was still just a spark, and I was navigating my journey with a sense of curiosity and determination. What followed was a trip that not only inspired me but also helped lay the foundation for the path that I am on today.
As I reflect back on my travels now, in March 2025, it’s surreal to see how much has changed—and how far I’ve come. What made this recent trip with Gauteng Tourism even more special was the unexpected reminder of how everything has shifted since then. My first-ever hosting with South African Tourism around the same time as that trip sparked something deep within me. I was surrounded by journalists and content creators representing their own brands, telling their stories in unique ways. That’s when I realized I wanted to do the same. The idea of a travel publication—my own platform—was born in those moments.
Ivory Eatery: A Cozy Start
The journey began with a visit to Ivory Eatery in Mthatha, a charming café that felt like the perfect introduction to the Eastern Cape. As a lover of cozy cafes, I’m always on the lookout for those special spots that offer more than just a cup of coffee. Ivory Eatery was exactly that. The welcoming ambiance and delicious food set the tone for the rest of the trip.
A Step Back in Time: The Nelson Mandela Museum
From the café, we headed to the Nelson Mandela Museum, located in Mthatha and Qunu, which was my first time experiencing the history of one of South Africa’s greatest leaders up close. Walking through the museum, I felt deeply connected to the past, especially when driving past Mvezo, the village where Mandela was born. The landscape was as captivating as the history it held, a powerful reminder of how far this country has come.

Quad Biking on the Wild Coast: Adventure Awaits
The next chapter of my adventure took me to the Wild Coast, where I had the chance to go quad biking on rugged, rocky terrain. The adrenaline rush was indescribable, especially with the mesmerizing views of the ocean crashing against the cliffs below. Every moment felt like a new discovery, and the wild beauty of the coast left me in awe.
After the ride, I headed to Oribi Gorge for lunch, and the views there were just as breathtaking. The cliffs and valleys surrounding the gorge created a stunning backdrop that made it the perfect place to pause and take in nature’s wonders.
A Moment of Reflection: The Big Swing
One of the most meaningful moments of the trip came when I visited Oribi Gorge for the first time and did the big swing. Suspended over the gorge, I felt an exhilarating mixture of fear and excitement. But instead of being scared of falling onto the rocks below, I felt an overwhelming sense of joy and gratitude. It was one of those moments when everything seems to click into place. I found myself praying, thankful for the journey I’ve been on and for the opportunity to take such risks and embrace new experiences.
How Far I’ve Come
Looking back, this trip in March 2023 was the beginning of something truly special. I left the Eastern Cape with a renewed sense of purpose, inspired by the people I met and the experiences I had. Little did I know, those moments would be the catalyst for Timeless Trends.
Today, as I reflect on how far I’ve come, I am filled with gratitude. The idea that once seemed so distant is now my reality, and I am constantly reminded of how much I’ve grown along the way. It’s incredible to think about all the collaborations I’ve worked on and the opportunities I’ve been lucky enough to experience—and there’s so much more on the horizon.
