There is an undeniable magic to the Johannesburg inner city. It’s a landscape where grit meets glamour, historic architecture frames cutting-edge street art, and the collective energy of the people creates a pulse you won’t find anywhere else in the world.
If you’ve been looking for the perfect excuse to lace up your sneakers, rediscover the heartbeat of the metropolis, and step into a movement of urban renewal, this is it. But you have to act fast: there are just two days left until entries close on Wednesday, 22 July for one of the city’s most iconic annual events now completely transformed as the 702 Jozi My Jozi Walk the Talk.
On Sunday, 26 July, thousands of citizens will take to the streets, turning the pavement into a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and conscious citizenship.
Choose Your Pace: The Curated Urban Routes
This isn’t just a walk; it’s a fully immersive cultural experience complete with live music, local art activations, and unmatched city views. Starting and ending at the historic Ellis Park Stadium, every single route has been designed to be entirely pram- and wheelchair-friendly, ensuring everyone can participate.

| 15km | The ultimate urban challenge cutting through the city’s most iconic precincts. | Fit walkers, corporate teams, and running clubs ready to dominate the tarmac. |
Conscious Citizenship: Shifting from Relief to Transformation
What makes the 2026 reimagined walk so profound is its heart. This year, the “talk” part of the walk is focused on addressing one of our city’s most pressing challenges: homelessness.
When you register, you have the unique opportunity to purchase Mi-Change vouchers. Instead of giving cash which can inadvertently sustain chronic street dependency, these vouchers offer a pathway to sustainable dignity. They can be handed out to individuals experiencing homelessness, who can exchange them at trusted partners like MES (Mould Empower Serve) and U-turn shelters for meals, hygiene facilities, clothing, safe shelter, and crucial rehabilitation services.
“Simply taking part in this year’s 702 Jozi My Jozi Walk the Talk can be a step towards ensuring that homelessness is a rare and brief one-off experience for an individual,” says Innocent Mabusela, CEO of Jozi My Jozi. “Buying vouchers is a move away from compassionate to responsible giving, which is what we encourage.”
This initiative is backed by real operational data. Last year, Jozi My Jozi in partnership with local universities and NGOs conducted a groundbreaking point-in-time count surveying approximately 2,100 people experiencing homelessness across pilot areas like Hillbrow, Linden, and the inner city, with the next count slated for August. Your entry is a direct vote of support for a smarter, metrics-driven response to urban care.
Seamless City Travel: The Ultimate Transport Uniform
A flawless Sunday out requires effortless logistics. To ensure you skip the traffic and arrive completely unbothered, the event has locked down premier transit partnerships with both the Gautrain and PRASA:
- The Gautrain Option: Enjoy a free train service to the city centre, with a secure R1 parking fee at designated stations for all registered participants.
- The PRASA Option: Take advantage of a dedicated return train ticket for just R20, running smoothly from Park Station straight to Ellis Park Station and back.
