Hidden along KwaZulu-Natal’s northern coastline, Casa Del Mar Villa recently set the stage for a new kind of luxury dining experience, The Seasonal Table, an intimate long-table affair by Nyambose Villas in collaboration with experience curator Mfundo Ngcobo.
Known for crafting immersive social gatherings at some of South Africa’s most celebrated hotels, Ngcobo brings his signature touch of intentional luxury to this serene seaside setting. The first edition of The Seasonal Table, hosted last week, gathered a small group of creators and tastemakers for a weekend defined by stillness, sensory indulgence, and coastal charm.
From concierge transfers that whisked guests from King Shaka International Airport to a seven-bedroom villa with a private beach, every detail was considered. Once inside Casa Del Mar, phones were set aside, conversations deepened, and the ocean became the day’s soundtrack.
Each element of the experience reflected a quiet sophistication, from Chili Food and Beverages’ thoughtful culinary direction to Ayarish Florals’ sculptural tablescapes and Randi Mphaphuli’s soft, cinematic photography that captured the mood of the day.
The villa itself, equal parts sanctuary and statement, offered panoramic ocean views from every suite, private balconies for morning coffee rituals, and the kind of barefoot luxury that invites you to slow down.
At the heart of The Seasonal Table lies a celebration of the seasons, a return to honest flavours, local ingredients, and food that tells a story. The weekend unfolded with a warm welcome lunch, a spit braai under the stars, and a seven-colour feast that reimagined South African heritage through a contemporary lens. Guests could enjoy breakfast on the lounge deck overlooking the waves or opt for a floating tray breakfast by the pool before the signature long-table experience began.
From handcrafted cocktails to golden-hour performances, every touchpoint connected guests to a sense of place where time moved gently and the ocean framed every memory.
Following the success of this first gathering, The Seasonal Table officially opens to the public on 28 November 2025, offering limited seats for a weekend that blends culinary excellence, artful design, and coastal escape. Guests can choose from dining-only tickets or full-weekend packages, which include accommodation at Casa Del Mar, meals, and curated leisure experiences such as spa sessions and beachfront dining.
