Something in my spirit keeps calling me to Dubai. It’s funny because although I’ve landed there, I never quite got the chance to explore the city. Straight off the plane, I was whisked away to Abu Dhabi. But that won’t stop me. Until I can tell those stories live, I’ll use my publication to travel there in spirit, weaving together what makes Dubai so magnetic and inviting.
Dubai is known worldwide for its soaring skyscrapers, breathtaking opulence, and world-class luxury. Yet, here’s the secret: Dubai can also be a fantastic, vibrant destination for budget-conscious travellers. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, the city welcomed over 8 million international visitors, a 7 percent increase from the previous year and many discovered how to enjoy it without overspending.
If you’re dreaming of Dubai but worried about costs, here are six affordable travel tips to help you experience the magic without breaking the bank:
Off-Season Opportunities
Dubai’s peak travel season runs from November through March, when the weather is cooler and the city is buzzing. But visiting during the off-peak months, primarily the summer, means you can dodge crowds and take advantage of jaw-dropping deals. From discounted hotel rates to slashed prices on tours and activities, Dubai’s summer time offers a treasure trove of savings.
Dubai Summer Surprises
This year, the 28th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises runs from 27 June to 31 August. It’s a spectacular festival packed with unbeatable offers—think up to 70 percent off shopping, prize draws, family-friendly hotel staycations, and vibrant music festivals like Beat the Heat DXB. Whether you’re honeymooning or travelling with kids, this festival turns Dubai into an affordable summer playground.
Budget-Friendly Accommodation
Dubai boasts hundreds of four and five-star hotels, and you might be surprised to find deals that blend luxury and value. Families and groups can often find packages under $100 per night, some including free access to key attractions. Areas like Old Dubai tend to offer better prices than tourist hotspots and still provide excellent metro access, making your commute smooth and affordable.
Dubai On-and-Off Transport
Getting around Dubai doesn’t have to be expensive. The city’s metro, trams, and the new Dubai On-and-Off sightseeing bus offer budget-friendly ways to explore iconic sights. For just $9 a day, you can hop on and off buses that connect you to major attractions like the Museum of the Future, Gold Souk, and Dubai Frame—perfect for families and first-timers alike.
Local Eateries with Global Flavour
Dubai is a melting pot of nearly 200 nationalities, and its food scene reflects that diversity beautifully. From gourmet three-course meals under $40 to street food stalls selling authentic Emirati dishes, following the locals will lead you to culinary gems. Whether you’re craving Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, or Asian flavours, there’s a wallet-friendly option waiting for you.
Affordable and Free Activities
Fun doesn’t have to cost a fortune in Dubai. Grab a Dubai Pass to save up to 60 percent on more than 30 attractions or explore with an Explorer Pass valid for two months. For a more relaxed day, hop on a traditional abra boat in the historic Al Fahidi district, stroll along Jumeirah or Kite Beach, or simply soak up the city’s vibrant atmosphere without spending a dirham.
Dubai calls to dreamers, adventurers, and travellers of all budgets alike. Until I can finally roam its streets and share stories in real time, I’ll keep inviting you to explore this dazzling city with me because, Habibi, Dubai is waiting.
