Three Decades of Opulence and Unapologetic Wit: Inside the Savanna Dry District

The Luxurious Marble Circus has never been shy of spectacle, but for its third year, a detour from the ordinary led the curious and the creative down a fantastical yellow brick road into the heart of the Savanna Dry District. Here, where sound, performance, and refined refreshment collided, an aura of unapologetic opulenza took hold—marking three decades of the world’s number-one cider (IWSR, 2025).

To celebrate thirty remarkable years, Savanna transformed its presence into an immersive realm of pure Evophoria. It was a living cultural meeting point where thirty years of heritage gracefully embraced contemporary South African creative expression. Set against a backdrop of music, laughter, and high design, the activation served as a masterclass in how an iconic brand continues to shape the cultural zeitgeist.

Long before QR codes, augmented reality, and viral feeds, the iconic line, “Do you know your monkey stole my Savanna?” carved its name into South African advertising folklore. Thirty years later, that famous piece of mischief came swinging back to captivate a new generation. In the days leading up to the festivities, the Savanna bottle mysteriously disappeared across digital platforms, sparking widespread intrigue around the ultimate brand heist. The revelation awaited inside the Fantastical Forest of the Savanna Dry District, where the joke came alive and festival-goers stepped directly inside a living piece of pop culture history.

The District itself unfolded as an ethereal world of its own—mic performances echoing through the canopy, rhythm filling the air, and crisp golden cider flowing freely. Inspired by the vibrant gathering spaces where South Africans have connected for generations, the venue blended artistic comedy with signature peculiarizm, creating an atmosphere that felt both extraordinarily lavish and unmistakably local.

On the decks, the sonic identity of the Dry District was elevated by DJ Kent—the multi-award-winning producer, composer, and songwriter—who curated the exclusive WeeKent experience. His lineup delivered a masterfully crafted soundtrack, celebrating the artists who have long maintained the rhythm of connection across the country.

Complementing the music was a sharp deliverable of comedy. For seasoned brand enthusiasts, a surprise cameo by legendary comedian Barry Hilton provided the ultimate cultural wink—a nod to nostalgia that felt entirely fresh, proving that sophisticated dry humour ages better than any status update. For younger guests, it was an invitation into a legacy that predates group chats yet still effortlessly understands the room.

A vast amount has evolved between 1996 and 2026, yet Savanna’s commitment to crisp, dry perfection and lighthearted brilliance remains pristine.

“For 30 years, the brand has given people a cold, crisp, dry cider, a sharp punchline and a reason to laugh together,” reflects Zetské Posthumus, Sponsorship Activations & Events Manager at Savanna. “Celebrating that at Luxurious Marble Circus was never about nostalgia for the sake of it. It was about showing that the same dry wit, the same crisp cider and the same Savanna spirit can still feel completely current when it meets great music, comedy, creators and a crowd ready to be surprised.”

As the curtains fell on the third edition of the Luxurious Marble Circus, one thing remained abundantly clear: three decades in, the brand is nowhere near finished causing a scene. The grand spectacle may have wrapped, but the dryness lingers—crisp, sharp, and entirely timeless.
