Cape Town International (CTIA) and OR Tambo International (ORTIA) airports have brought pride to South Africa by achieving top spots in the 2024 AirHelp Score global airport rankings. AirHelp evaluates airports based on a combination of factors including on-time performance, passenger satisfaction with services, and the quality of food and shopping options available.
Cape Town Takes Second Place
CTIA emerged as a shining star, ranking second in the world, only behind Doha Hamad International Airport in Qatar. This impressive achievement reflects CTIA’s strong performance in all categories. Passengers flying through Cape Town were particularly impressed with on-time departures, which scored a commendable 8.6 out of 10. High marks were also awarded for customer service (8.4) and the variety and quality of food and shops (8.5). This well-deserved recognition also makes CTIA the top-ranked airport on the African continent.
OR Tambo International Earns Recognition Too
Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport also deserves a round of applause for securing a position among the world’s best. ORTIA ranked a respectable sixth place globally. While its on-time performance score was slightly lower than CTIA’s at 8.2, passengers were still generally satisfied with customer service (8.3) and the food and shopping options on offer (8.4).
These rankings by AirHelp are a significant accomplishment for South Africa’s aviation industry. They highlight the commitment of both Cape Town International and OR Tambo International airports to providing passengers with a positive and efficient travel experience.
