FlySafair Announces Second Annual School Booster Competition with More Flights Up for Grabs

For the second consecutive year, low-cost carrier FlySafair is set to run its annual School Booster competition, and this time, even more flights are up for grabs! The airline is inviting schools from across South Africa to enter for a chance to win 10 return domestic flights by sharing how flying will open new doors for their students and create more opportunities for success.

FlySafair’s Chief Marketing Officer, Kirby Gordon, emphasized the importance of this initiative: “The School Booster competition is our way of supporting schools that are shaping South Africa’s future stars. We’ve increased the number of winners from three schools to 10, making this year’s competition bigger and better. Whether you want to compete in an annual academic or sporting competition or explore a new city on a school tour, we want to hear about it. We see flying as a great way to connect people to new places and experiences, and we want to share this with the younger generation.”

A Look Back at Last Year’s Success

Last year’s School Booster competition saw a great response, with 788 entries. The three lucky winners—Benjamin Pine Primary School in KwaZulu-Natal, Potchefstroom Central School in North West, and ESCA Wanderers in Gauteng—were each awarded 10 return domestic flights. The FlySafair team visited each of these schools to present them with their prizes, including giant boarding passes for their flights.

Gordon added, “We’re always looking for ways to connect different parts of South African society. Over the years, we’ve been involved in art, music, small businesses, and sport. The School Booster competition is a chance for us to not only support the future of our country but also the schools that work tirelessly to educate and shape young minds.”

This Year’s Competition: Bigger and Better

The 2025 School Booster competition opens on 28 February and will run until 27 March 2025. This year, FlySafair has raised the stakes by selecting 10 winning schools, each receiving 10 return domestic flights.

To enter, schools must submit a motivation as part of their entry form, which must be signed off by the principal. Eligible entries will also need to include details such as the total number of learners, whether the school is independent or public, and the principal’s contact information. The representative submitting the entry must be over the age of 18.

The competition closes on 27 March, and the winning schools will be announced on 17 April 2025. To enter, visit flysafair.co.za.

FlySafair’s Ongoing Commitment to Community Initiatives

The School Booster competition is part of FlySafair’s broader efforts to give back to various communities. The airline has previously run the Business Booster competition, awarding 180 return business class flights to small businesses, and has partnered with Wings & Wishes to assist children and families from disadvantaged backgrounds with travel to medical appointments. FlySafair has also worked with local artists through its Artist Project to create unique artworks for installation on its aircraft.

Gordon concluded, “It’s competitions like the School Booster that allow us to share our love of flying with more people of different ages and backgrounds. Being able to experience the magic of flying is a wonderful thing we hope to share with more South Africans.”
