Grammy Award-winning global superstar Doja Cat is set to headline Global Citizen’s Move Afrika 2026 tour this March, marking a powerful return to the continent through one of Africa’s most ambitious live music initiatives.

Now in its third year, Move Afrika continues to redefine global touring by building the first-ever pan-African music circuit led by international artists and rooted in local economic impact. The 2026 edition will be hosted in Rwanda and South Africa, expanding the tour’s footprint while creating jobs, developing skills, and unlocking long-term opportunities within Africa’s creative economy.

The tour kicks off with Move Afrika Kigali at the BK Arena on 17 March before moving to Move Afrika Pretoria at the SunBet Arena on 20 March.

Move Afrika is designed as more than a concert series. It is a long-term investment in Africa’s cultural infrastructure. Since its inception, the initiative has created more than 2,500 jobs across Kigali and Lagos, with over 90 percent of crew and production roles filled by local talent. In Kigali alone, local crew participation increased from 75 percent in 2023 to 90 percent in 2025, with 95 percent of audio and lighting equipment sourced locally. Youth training programmes in rigging, security, hospitality and production have also been expanded, including hands-on paid experience delivered through the Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator.

Reflecting on her role in the tour, Doja Cat said that bringing Move Afrika to Kigali and Pretoria is about more than performance. It is about energy, purpose and lasting change. She noted that Africa’s creativity is already world-class and deserves sustained investment, visibility and opportunity.

Global Citizen co-founder and CEO Hugh Evans said the 2026 tour represents a bold evolution of global touring, placing Africa’s creative excellence at the centre of international culture while strengthening local industries and driving long-term economic growth powered by music.

Rwanda’s continued participation reflects its ambition to become a leading destination for live entertainment. Jean-Guy Afrika, CEO of the Rwanda Development Board, said the partnership supports job creation, youth development and sustainable economic opportunity while positioning Rwanda as a hub for world-class entertainment experiences.

Beyond music, Move Afrika 2026 builds on Global Citizen’s ongoing advocacy campaigns focused on strengthening healthcare systems across Africa. Leading up to each event, Global Citizen will work alongside local partners to campaign for stronger primary healthcare, improved sexual and reproductive health and rights, increased investment in health resilience and reduced financial barriers to public healthcare.

The tour also aligns with the Music Economy Development Initiative, which will release new research in partnership with Global Citizen, Universal Music Group and the International Finance Corporation, aimed at driving music policy reform and positioning music financing as a key driver of sustainable growth within Africa’s creative economy.

Tickets for Move Afrika Kigali are available via moveafrika.org. Tickets for Move Afrika Pretoria will be released through Mastercard presales, the Big Concerts Fan Club and general public sales via ticketmaster.co.za.

Partners for Move Afrika 2026 include pgLang, Big Concerts, Major Tour Partner Cisco, and the Rwanda Development Board.

As Move Afrika continues to expand across the continent over the next five years, it is setting a new global standard for how music, culture and economic development can move together.
