From Reheated Cups to Spring Resets: How Real Women Navigate Their Daily Coffee Rituals

As Women’s Month draws to a close today and we step into the fresh energy of Spring, it offers a moment to reflect on the real, unfiltered rhythms of daily life. Beyond the grand celebrations, it is often the quiet, everyday rituals that keep women grounded starting with that very first cup of morning coffee.

A recent Jacobs community poll revealed that coffee rituals are deeply personal, highly practical, and frequently involve reheating the exact same cup more than once. There is the coffee made with every intention of sitting down to enjoy, and then there is the cup that follows you around for three hours: taking a few sips while getting ready, setting it down to answer a message, forgetting where it went, finding it cold, reheating it, and carrying on.

For the women who responded to the Jacobs social media polls, this scenario is all too familiar. A striking 77% of respondents admitted to reheating their coffee every day, while another 15% said they do so most days. It stands out as perhaps the most relatable finding from the poll series, pointing to a simple truth: while coffee is an essential fixture of the daily routine, there is no single “right” way to enjoy it.

The Early Morning Rhythm

For 43% of respondents, the first coffee of the day happens between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM, while 18% are already reaching for theirs before 6:00 AM. Yet despite early starts, that first cup isn’t always a rushed affair. Out of 24 women polled, 14 shared that they prefer to sit and relax with their coffee, while five drink theirs on the go and five enjoy it in the car. Even on the busiest mornings, taking a quiet moment with a mug remains a priority.

More Than Just a Wake-Up Call

The poll also highlights how the role of coffee extends far beyond simple caffeine intake. Almost half of the respondents—47%—stated that they drink coffee specifically to recharge. By comparison, 20% drink it to wake up, and 13% view it as a dedicated opportunity to take a mental break.

Timing plays a key role here, with three-quarters of respondents enjoying their coffee before work begins. It serves as a personal reset button—the final pause before the demands of the day take over.

Embracing the Unfiltered Ritual

The reality of these daily habits isn’t always picture-perfect, and that is precisely what makes them authentic. Coffee adapts to the flow of the day around it, whether that means being savored in silence or microwaved three times before noon.

“What these responses show us is just how personal coffee can be,” says Domaine Rautenbach, Senior Brand Manager at Jacobs South Africa. “Some women make time to sit down and enjoy their coffee, while others fit it around everything else happening in their day. Even the number of women who reheat their coffee tells us something about how coffee fits into their routines. They come back to it when they have a moment.”

That flexibility extends to how coffee is prepared. A quick cup before a busy commute might call for high-quality instant coffee, while a slower weekend morning warrants a freshly brewed cappuccino, latte, or bean-to-cup pour.

As a new season begins, the key takeaway from the Jacobs poll is a reminder to embrace our own pace. A great coffee ritual isn’t about finding a picture-perfect moment—it’s simply about making a moment for yourself, however life demands it.
