Valentine’s Day has long been associated with grand gestures and romantic plans, but this year Starbucks is shifting the focus inward with what it calls the Year of Me. It is a gentle reminder that love is not only something we give to others but something we cultivate within ourselves through reflection, self worth and simple daily rituals.
At its heart, the Year of Me is about reclaiming small moments. The kind that do not require a reservation, a reason or even an occasion. Just a willingness to pause, be present and show up for yourself.
From 12 to 17 February, Starbucks is celebrating this philosophy with a Valentine’s offering available across all stores. A Grande Chocolate Mousse Latte, served hot or iced, is paired with a Chicken Mayo Toastie on sourdough or seeded bread for R91. Whether enjoyed alone or shared with someone else, the experience is designed to create space for a quiet moment of appreciation.
“You don’t need a reason to choose yourself,” says Leah McCrae, Managing Director at Rand Capital Coffee. “Self love doesn’t replace romance. It precedes it. Sometimes the most meaningful plans are the ones you make for yourself. You are enough, exactly as you are.”
For those who prefer to enjoy the moment at home, the offer extends to delivery. Ordering a Grande Chocolate Mousse Latte through Uber Eats comes with a complimentary white reusable cup. On Mr D Food, customers can enjoy a Grande Latte paired with a Chocolate Brownie for R70.
However the day is spent, Starbucks is encouraging customers to share their self love moments by tagging @StarbucksSA, creating a ripple effect that reminds others that choosing yourself is always an option.
The in store offer runs from 12 to 17 February at all locations. Uber Eats is available from 12 to 17 February, while Mr D Food runs from 14 to 17 February. More details are available at starbucks.co.za.
